MAJOR HEADLINES BLUSH DUO TECHNIQUE

Nothing ties a makeup look together quite like blush. Illuminate your complexion and get the most from your favorite blush hue using Patrick Ta’s expert level blush application techniques.

Let us introduce you to your new go-to cheek product: the innovative Major Headlines Double-Take Crème & Powder Blush Duo. It’s the secret to unlocking a luminous, multidimensional cheek look and taking your blush skills to the next level.

The duo features both a crème and a powder blush, because two blushes are better than one. The creamy hydrating blush melts seamlessly into the skin, imparting a fresh, dewy finish that brings out your skin’s luminosity. The richly pigmented formula layers evenly on the cheeks for a natural pop of color. The weightless powder adds an ethereal touch of color, instantly energizing the complexion.

Of course, the tools are just as important as the makeup itself. For effortless blending and precise application, Patrick has designed the Dual-Ended Blush Brush. It’s the perfect partner for the iconic blush duo.

Patrick Ta's Blush Technique

Want to know how to apply blush like a pro? Here is exactly how to follow Patrick Ta’s game changing cream-over-powder technique.

1. Start with Prepped Skin: Beautiful blush starts with properly prepped skin. Before you apply any makeup, be sure to moisturize your face and apply an even layer of primer all over the skin. This will give your blush (and the rest of your face makeup) a smooth, even canvas for the most natural application.

2. Apply the Powder Blush: After applying your foundation, start your blush routine with the powder blush. Take the Dual-Ended Blush Brush, and use the fluffy brush to press the pigment into the cheeks. A pressing motion helps add the pigment to the cheeks without disrupting the foundation underneath.

Focus your application on the apples of the cheeks, and diffuse the powder up towards the temples. Continue applying until you’ve reached your desired color level.

3. Apply the Crème Blush: Once you’ve applied your powder, it’s time to reach for the crème. This time, you’ll use the dense end of the brush, as it will help seamlessly melt the blush into the skin.

Pick up the crème blush with the brush, and press the product into the skin, focusing on the areas where you’ve applied the powder. Since it is more pigmented, we recommend starting with less product, and then building until you’ve reached your desired color intensity. It’s made to be layerable, so customizing your look is easy.

Continue layering the crème until you’ve created your perfectly dewy cheek look. Before you finish, be sure to blend away any harsh lines for the most natural, healthy flush.

4. Lock in Your Look: Once you’ve completed your full beauty look, lock in your makeup with a setting spray. This will keep your makeup looking fresh while maximizing the longevity of your beauty look.

Where to Apply Blush: Our Favorite Blush Placements

You now know how to apply your blush with Patrick’s expert technique. But it’s just as important to know where to apply it.

Blush placement has a major impact on your final look. It can be used in different ways to sculpt, lift, soften, or add fullness to your face.

Customize your cheek look and maximize your artistry with our go-to blush placements. Each application technique adds its own unique touch to a makeup looking, amplifying your glow. Try these placements with Patrick’s signature cream-over-powder method for a long-lasting and multidimensional radiance.

Rounded Placement

Rounded blush placement, often called the babydoll look, creates a soft, youthful flush by concentrating color at the center of the face. Powder blush is applied to the highest point of the apples of the cheeks and gently diffused just beneath the pupils, keeping the placement rounded and fresh (never pulled toward the temples or below the nostrils). A light layer of crème blush along the outer edge adds subtle dimension and a skin-like finish without overpowering the cheeks. Flooding this area with color helps soften the face and bring attention to the roundness of the cheeks.

Diffused Placement

Diffused blush placement creates a natural, sun-kissed flush by softly sweeping color across the face. The look starts with powder blush applied through the apples of the cheeks, lightly diffused into the undereye area and up toward the highest points of the temples. Any remaining pigment is gently brushed across the bridge of the nose, tying the warmth together for a seamless, lived-in finish.

To enhance the glow, crème blush is layered along the high points of the cheekbones, catching the light like a natural highlight. The result is an effortless wash of color that feels fresh, radiant, and perfectly suited for clean, no-makeup makeup looks.

Lifted Placement

Lifted blush placement creates a sleek, sculpted effect by concentrating color along the high points of the cheekbones. Powder blush is applied high and diffused outward toward the temples, softly blending into the outer edges of concealer and slightly into the undereye area to enhance lift. To finish, crème blush is swept toward the outer corners of the eyes, amplifying the lifted effect for a refined, elongated look that feels polished and event-ready.

Transition Blush

Transition placement creates a soft, seamless wash of color that connects the cheeks and eyes. Powder blush is pressed onto the apples of the cheeks, kept high and never below the nostrils, then gently diffused upward once the brush holds minimal pigment. The color softly blends into the undereye area and melts into contour for a smooth, gradient effect.

A light layer of crème blush is pressed onto the high points of the cheekbones, enhancing the transition while preserving the base. The result is a fresh, blended flush that draws focus to the eyes, leaving them looking brighter, lifted, and effortlessly awake.
